Makeup for Tony Award Winning Director Maria Friedman for the LA Times Interview

I got an honor to work with Maria Friedman and do makeup for her LA Times interview.

Maria is a Tony-winning director with a remarkable career and reputation on NYC Broadway. She won her Tony award for directing the revival of Merrily We Roll Along, a Stephen Sondheim musical that didn’t get enough recognition when it first came out, but Maria completely reimagined it and turned it into something really moving and powerful.

With Sonia Friedman as a producer and celebrity cast, including Jonathan Groff, Daniel Radcliffe, and Lindsay Mendez. This play was a huge hit!

Maria loves a smoky eye, so for her makeup we went with a brown-toned eyeshadow and added a bit of shimmer to bring out her eyes, which especially important for pictures. We kept her skin matte with a full coverage foundation and setting powder to avoid shine on camera, gave her a nice contour, bronzer and finished with a neutral lip that still had enough color to show up well in photos.
